News/Photos News Rental Kart League Racing returns Saturday with special offer to save you big $$

PGP veteran Dave Greeness says Rental Kart Racing is great, affordable fun for everyone!

40-12-1PGP's 2012 Fall-Winter schedule kicks off this weekend with Race 1 of Rental Kart League Racing (RKLR), and we've got a special deal to save you a ton of money.

Pre-registration is open now for Saturday's RKLR event and we're offering discounted entry fee of $700 for anyone who registers for all 13 events — that's a savings of up to $535 over paying event-by-event!

Taking part in PGP's RKLR events is a whole lot of fun and the perfect way to find out what karting is all about. But don't just take our word for it, here's what Dave Greeness of Issaquah has to say about rental kart racing:

"I like karting because the driver matters more than the machine, and it's the least expensive and safest way to have a real competitive racing experience," said Dave, who works for Costco in the corporate pharmacy group. "You don't need experience to start, just seat time, to become a good driver or racer. The rental karts are the perfect solution. The more you do it, the better you get, and the more fun it is."

Dave's not kidding about the "all ages" part, either. He's 65 with two sons older than 25 but took his first kart ride while in elementary school and in 1988 he won the California state championship in the Masters (40+) class. He's also raced dirt bikes, but took some time away from karting before his first visit to PGP. He's been a regular here ever since.

40-12-3"At age 65 after nine years of not driving a kart, I did two rental sessions and then entered my first league race. Got a second and won the next two races," said Dave (lifting the winner's trophy in left photo). "PGP is the best track in the Northwest: well designed and constructed, well maintained, quality karts, great staff and management that maintains safety while providing a very high level of competition and driving experience."

Saturday's RKLR event kicks off at 9 a.m. with the first of four on-track sessions — practice, qualifying, Pre-Final and Final — before the event wraps up at 11:30 a.m. Weights will be used to ensure the two RKLR classes, Expert and Novice, are equalized for all racers.

"It's a great way for parents to connect with kids and a very positive way for kids to connect and make friends with others of all ages," said Dave. "You don't have to be in athletic condition (of course it helps), anyone — young, old, female, male, experienced or waiting to get your drivers license — can do this safely."

Asked how he would describe karting at PGP to someone who has never done it before, Dave said: "Probably one of the most intense and satisfying experiences they can have in a day. On the track, you are totally focused on driving, no thoughts about your problems, job, family, etc., it clears your head like few other things you can do, all with minimal risks and expense."

We couldn't say it better ourselves. Come out on Saturday and find out what Dave is talking about during our opening event of the Fall-Winter season: Rental Kart League Racing Race 1.
